DescriptionThis course contains the use of artificial intelligence.
A pump gets changed out, rebuilt, and fails again in four months. Then again. The pump is not the problem. The system it was put into is the problem, and nobody looked at the system because the pump is the thing that broke.
Pumps are the largest equipment population on any process plant and they absorb a disproportionate share of the maintenance budget. Most of that spend goes on machines that were oversized at selection, are operating far from their best efficiency point, and are being asked to work with a suction system that never gave them a chance.
This course treats the pump as part of a system, which is the only way pump problems get solved permanently.
WHAT YOU WILL MASTERFive sections cover pump principles and construction, system interaction and NPSH, API 610 specification and selection, seals, bearings and installation, and commissioning through to systematic troubleshooting.
You will build a system curve and find the operating point where it crosses the pump curve, then watch what happens to that point when the system changes. You will calculate available suction head from the suction system, read required suction head from the curve, and understand the margin between them and the design decisions that quietly destroy it.
OPERATING AWAY FROM DESIGNWhat actually happens at low flow - recirculation, temperature rise and radial load - and where minimum continuous flow comes from. What happens at high flow as suction margin disappears. And the reason oversizing is the most common and most expensive error in pump selection, made with the best of intentions every time.

Auxiliary systems and piping plans. Nozzle loads, the allowable load table, and what exceeding it does.
